Real Talk

“Nothing bad will happen, right?” My daughter asks me every night. It’s the last pressing question she absolutely needs answers to before she will actually relax and try to sleep.

I try to reassure her, but sometimes I sound rather flippant about it. ( Read more... )

Our baby is right now too young to understand that anything is different. He knows Mama and Papa are now both home all the time, and he seems happy about that. I'm actually happy to be here with both of them, and I hate every time we have to leave the house. Went to the grocery store to get a few things on Saturday (things you can't really stock up on in advance - eggs, milk, yogurt, cheese), and felt an overwhelming sense of angst that left me lightheaded. I recovered as soon as I came home and had a soak in the tub to decompress, but it feels like outside the house is a whole other planet these days. I'm grateful for online outlets, that let me connect with people without leaving these walls.

I'm sorry your family has been so directly impacted. I hope your family's situation turns a corner and allows you to breathe easy. <3

I'm so sorry your family has been affected so much. I really hope your parents, and the rest of you, will be okay.

My daughter is 1 so she is way too young to understand. She probably does wonder why she doesn't go to daycare anymore, but she's fine being with mommy and daddy all day.

This is really well written, though. Very powerful and sad, and the only thing I can do it send virtual hugs <3
