I don't mind the 4th of July. I like excuses to be with a lot of other people and watch loud smokey flashing bits of fire fly all over the place. I like another excuse not to go to work. I don't really like ignorant conservative's claiming that this holiday belongs to them and not a lefty liberal like me, and then claim that I am unpatriotic because I might criticize my government, and my president. I think by actively questioning and analyzing my government I am more patriotic than those that blindly follow and accept what is dished out in front of them, especially when something is so rotten in the state of denmark, because I'm participating in the system. I want my country to reach a state of which I can be proud. It's a ways away, but I still want it.

That, my friend, is a picture of John Ashcroft in front of the lady liberty staute that he wanted to cover up because it was exposing a bare breast! The artist of this picture figured, if you're going to cover her up why not put her in a berka (sp)? David Cross has a comedy bit about John Ashcroft which I wanted you to hear but it was at the part we just barely missed.

This holiday reminds me how blind the average american is to the problems our nation creates. I don't think american freedoms can actually be called 'free' when they come at the cost of subjugating people of foreign countries and destroying the world's environment. That's a big price tag, if you ask me.

im pretty much numb to the whole fireworks thing...maybe a new tradition should be created...like feeding our hungry...this epiphany came to me when i finished stuffing my face at a local fair on the 4th...and do i feel fat, sad, and selfish...wait a tick, i am a TRUE AMERICAN!

Happy 4th of July (well, for some at least)

side note: i wonder what the british do on this day? maybe curse and spit?
