Well....sorta.

I was flipping through old Elijah pictures looking for that perfect manipping head shot - I really, really was looking at ELIJAH pictures (there's proof, so I'll stop feeling guilty) and about mid-way through my nostalgic sigh of how darn CUTE he was with that laughable little side hawk thing - I found this.....

( Now it's neither new....or all that amazing....or anything that I haven't seen before.....BUT..... )

Oh I don't know... In the first pic he's laughing at something, so is naturally more animated. In the second pic he's detached and wary, not engaging with anyone. I'm sure his smiley eyes still make an appearance these days!

I think I picked a bad NOW picture of Dom - I mean.....not bad if you're a big dirty Dom perv and want to oogle his crotch or anything *shifty eyes and a snicker*, but bad because it's not a very accurate picture of what he usually looks like now a days - he does look overly tired and super distracted....and maybe even a bit annoyed - and our Dommie doesn't really wander around all the time looking like that. But I think I understand what you're trying to say - he used to have this sparkle about him all the time and just light up any picture he was in - HOWEVER - in all fairness - he wasn't followed around by paparazzi all the time and getting pictures taken of him at all hours of his life either back then - so all the pictures we remember of him just being on fire - were pictures that he was more than eager and happy to participate in. Does that make any sense? No one can be "on" all the time and think poor Now!Dom is realizing that.

*shines her 'Most Devoted Dom-Girl EVAH!!!!' badge and grins*

I know - good grief, how many years has it been now since there was even a LOTR premier to get hyped over (not that many I know....but it feels like more) and still - looking at pictures of that time just makes me melt inside! Not to sound like a total cheese puff here or anything - but it really was kinda magical, huh?

Memories indeed!

My this IS a random post. I was thinking when I saw it : "Lost is a rerun tonight, and it's NOT slash Thursday. What the?"
But it was random in a good way. :)

And about the second pic and your story/excuse for posting that particular one...I believe you. Sort of. Maybe. Let me think about that one. ;)

I know right, how freaking brilliant of me to see a picture of him from years ago and notice that he looks young *rolls eyes at herself* - There was just something so innocent and mischevious and quirky and SO DAMN ADDICTIVE about them all at that time - even the older guys like Ian M. and Viggo had this "young" quality to them that was just really appealing and seeing pictures of Dom and Elijah from back then after having been bombarded with LOST and pictures from now just really made me all squishy and warm with memories from back then (SORRY - that makes NO sense - but I think you understand) They were just all so damn cute and I wasn't looking for young Dom and having him popped on me like that totally made my day!

And yeah....I SWEAR that second one was just in my 'recent documents' file and I er....randomly picked it....COME ON - just believe me!

And YES....TODAY is slashy Thursday isn't it? I'm not done yet...but I'll get my ass in gear and see if I can't get it done! WOOT!

I know!!! If I had a time machine honey - you and me would have a date with 2002 (or whenever this was taken) He was just so damn cute!!! (not that he's not now....but for as much as I've grown to *cringes* accept the Evi factor and even kinda enjoy the pics of them looking all lovey couply - I still prefer him attached at the hip to Elijah ;)

i miss the Dom from the LOTR days. And wish that Today!Dom hadn't changed so much.

He looks so adorable in that first pic!

Ya know....I think I might be one of the rare few who is under the impression that Dom hasn't really changed all that much since back then. He's grown up, definitely - but they all have really - and change is a natural part of life and everyone does it to some degree - constantly. I don't know - I guess to me it just seems like people are stamping the great big ugly label of 'CHANGED' across Dom's face because of reasons that might not be entirely fair. Back in the LOTR hey-day Dom was in front of the camera when DOM chose to be - he attended premiers and conventions and press releases and parties and did interviews and appearances - anything and everything, but it was ALL at Dom's discretion. He wasn't being followed around by paparazzi and having his picture snapped in resturants and juice bars or paying a fucking parking meter or having a conversation on his phone. No one can be expected to be comfortable being followed around by some nut with a camera all the time and having pictures of them and their new love plastered all over ( ... )

Well, we all have different feelings about whether Dom has changed or not. And everyone goes through some degree of change as they get older, true enough, But as I see it, those changes are more due to how he presents himself, now that he is a star on Lost, and how he is handling his "relationship" with Evi ( ... )

Ya know - I'll be the first to step up and admit that I've been somewhat out of the information loop here over the last few months, however - it's almost hard for me to believe that Dom has stopped doing conventions simply because they won't pay him enough. Maybe I'm wrong - theres a VERY good chance that I'm talking out of my ass here - but I remember something from a while back where the organazation was poor and the fans were treated more like sheep and there were problems left and right that had very little to do with him not getting paid enough. I don't know - like I said - I don't really know - but Dom has also moved on a bit, he does endless promotions for LOST, toured all summer for it and is probably exhausted. And he's not the only one who has quit doing LOTR conventions and it seems a bit unfair to criticize him to harshly for it ( ... )
