For lastvoyages: Journal Entry 36 [video+spam]

Nov 19, 2011 14:49

[The scene is the inside of a rather fanciful Mexican dive bar. Dracula, hair down and askew and a sloppy smile on his face, occasionally swings into view as the camera wobbles around. He has a big bone vuvuzela propped on one shoulder and a very squawky bone parrot on the other.]

Drake! I found you a pet! Isn't he charming?

"AWRK! Bite me."

[He ( Read more... )

[It's not Hoffman that shows up. Instead there's a big man with two women on his arm and another male-arguing.]

Take her and go find me the things that I wanted. No don't ask any questions. Just go and take the girls with you.

[Both women began to pout, clinging to the larger man as the younger stalked off-furious. Turning to the bar, the big man shouted something in Spanish at the bar then turned-and caught Dracula's eye. It's Hoffman-A younger big-bellied Hoffman with two women clinging to him and dressed elegantly.

Vegas's eyebrows went up.]

Dracula?

[He moved closer, arms around both women.] ...It is you! Dracula!

Dracula blinked blearily as a familiar...ish...figure came walking in. He knew that face and that profile, but not from Hoffman. Too young and smooth faced. He'd changed his hair, though.

"Vegas?" A smile climbed onto his face and he leaned forward eagerly. "Well, look at you!"

Thank goodness he'd talked to Stildyne. Vegas moved forward to wrap Dracula in a bear hug-practically squeezing the man. Moving back, he smiled.

"Esperanza, Roxy, kiss the man. This is my friend Dracula. Yes the man." The shy brunette moved forward and the blonde followed-each planting a quick kiss on the vampire's cheek.

Vegas resembled something looking more akin to a robber baron then a criminal, clearly having led a rich life. Rich clothing despite the cold palor to his skin and a rich look despite the darkness around his eyes.

"Drinking? I thought you couldn't manage to drink. Does it matter? Let's drink." He motioned for him, "Let's go. Come on. I own this bar."

"Ha! Ha ha!" He chuckled and pounded his friend on the back--a bit weakly and with a touch of unbalanced flailing to it. When let go, he petted the girls on the arms in passing and chuckled at the kisses.

"I can drink here! If I have to pass the time til we get back aboard I'll be damned if I'm staying sober any more than I have to. \"

Blink. Blink. Wide sloppy grin. "You do? That's wonderful! Well, you've done very well for yourself. I always say...if one has to be dead, one may as well have fun!"

...Oh my goodness, that's right. You're Dracula.

[Starry eyes!]

Yes, I always have been. Though a little different than some Draculas, if I may say so myself.

Would you like to come taste some Mexican...well, dead-Mexican beer?

Oh, I know, I had just forgotten we knew one another while I was home.

...with you?

Oh!

Was it a good stay back home?

...You can drink?

[Hoffman has a big scar on his head, but beyond that looks interested and amused]

Let's do it.

Wait, wha...wha...wha...what happened to your head?

It's just off the square with the skeleton fish. [He stumbles outside to give Hoffman and George a shot of what to look for, and then staggers back in. The scene lurches around some more.]

You drunk man?

I have discovered tequila! They make it from these great thorny plants with leaves you could beat someone to death with! It tastes like...like...like the Devil's bile! But it makes one very happy!

Count? There you are. My item isn't so good at pointing the way.

Umm... where exactly is that? I am looking for libraries. Sadly.

I would not abandon you, Armand, even if I am a little less than witty at the moment. Heh-heh-heh. Here, let me walk outside and get views of the surrounding area.

A library? You require a book? I was supposed to get--[he brandishes the vuvuzela.] This...thing I can't pronounce. It sounds positively awful. Want to hear?

Go ahead and make it sing, Dracula.

I didn't think you'd abandoned me, but considering-considering everyone's present condition, I did not think you'd been in much danger. Thank you for putting out a message.

Yes, I am to get a first edition of Bloom's Taxonomy, whatever that is. Why would the Admiral need a book to fix the Barge?

Reading doesn't seem to be much of a pastime here. Either that or I am completely missing what a library looks like in this context. I'd settle for a book seller.

[He nearly drops the communicator in his eagerness.] **BWWWWWAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR**

Isn't it just ridiculously horrible? Perhaps the Admiral wants souvenirs.

A...first edition book? Are they not rare? We should go to the wealthier section of town and have a...have a...look at shops there.

It's wonderful! I wonder if there's a way to take it back on the Barge with me?

You could always entreat your Warden; he is a crafty man but not in a wicked way, and provided you are prepared to care for it I do not see the problem. However, you will have to watch your dog around him. Dogs like bones, yes?

You're right. I'll have to be very careful, but since it's at least as big as my dog, she might just be scared of it.

I should warn you, he has a bit of a tendency toward...colorful language. But he seems good company.
