And I have come to the conclusion that the NHS is trying to kill Pirate. First he has to eat a low sugar diet because of his Diabetes, then it's a low salt and no fat diet because of his heart. Now it's a low potassium diet because of his Kidneys ( Read more... )

It'd be nice if all the doctors could gather round and create a plan for him and then come to you instead of driving you both mad.

So been there.....

Trouble then would be that they wouldn't agree on anything because they'd be all so up themselves and their own speciality!!

He really should be getting some kind of holistic care to sort all of it at once!

Could the hospital perhaps set up an appointment with a nutritionist there that has spoken with the doctors or you can explain the whole story to?

We found it hard when having to seek different specialists also because they didn't often liaise with each other (and would leave us swinging our hands up in frustration).

The dietician knew all about his other diets and that he can't eat much bread but still insisted on him using the low potassium one as well. Like I said, if it carries on he'll have nothing left that he enjoys eating!
