the trouble here is that i don't know you too well, so my questions are going to be a little retarded.

1. introduce yourself to me in 100 words. we've never properly met, i don't think, and i know very little about you...

2. but! the one thing i do know is that you play the piano extraordinarily well. i have a great admiration for musicians. how would you describe the experience of playing the piano? why do you play it?

3. what is your "dream job," why, and do you have plans to pursue it as a career. if not, why?

I really love your food pictures on twitter! I can't really afford to go to restaurants much (nor do I really have people to go with, I think I need to make that transition into adulthood where you start having lunch with people rather than 'hanging out') and I love seeing all the different foods you eat. Living vicariously a bit, I guess XD

i really want to try and hit every type of food available in a 20 mile radius of los angeles before i move east, but i've been doing a shit job of it; i keep going to my favorite places over and over -_-

Gonna answer here so I'm not spamming my journal :)

1. I have a seriously hard time picking favourites with things like this. I've seen so many films in my life, some of them, yeah, I can turn around and say 'I didn't like that' or 'that was shit', but picking favourites out of the ones I like becomes an exercise in going against the original meaning of 'favourite'. I have to start cutting it down into genre, into scenes, into technical elements versus pure enjoyability, writing, dialogue, into how I'm feeling, what sort of emotional response it evokes.

I own roughly 300-400 DVDs, most of them willingly paid for because they are, somewhere in that list, a favourite. I gave Great Expectations (1998) as my favourite when Vee asked me (barring action flicks), I can give The Matrix as an easy answer, I've got Black Snake Moan on my mind at the moment since I was reminded I don't own it. But I say those and I immediately start thinking of all the others I could say instead
