Aww, this is cavity-inducing amounts of sweet, and I love it :) Also, NJ is my home state, so I was amused to see it turn up amidst all the international cities usually featured in Inception fic.
This line made me laugh: David had floppy dark brown hair and looked so much like Arthur that Eames was almost convinced for a moment Arthur had himself cloned in a fit of egocentricity, but then David walked up to him, cocking his head to the side, curiously peering up at him with dark, beady eyes that Eames had a hard time believing he was Arthur's genetic duplicate.
And this exchange: Eames smiled without meaning to. "Aren't you going to feed me some cake?" he asked, tipping his chair back and raising his eyebrows at Arthur.
Arthur shrugged. "There's plenty more in the kitchen. I'll guard your seat if you want."
EVERYTHING I KNOW ABOUT JERSEY I LEARNED FROM GOOGLE. *RUBS CHEEK AGAINST GOOGLE*
DID I DO IT JUSTICE? LOL. I ALWAYS PLACE ARTHUR IN NY, WITH NJ BEING HIS HOME TOWN REPRESENT
Perhaps this was secretly a present for you ;)
Haha that last bit was my favourite part, besides, of course, describing the Garden State. I'd just come back from repeated viewings of Garden State and hours of backdated episodes of Kevin Smith's podcast.
This was lovely. Especially enjoyed how Eames fell into such an easy cadence with David, and of course, Eames and Arthur's relationship and how the revelation of Arthur having a kid affected them.
The entire first scene with Eames telling Arthur his "dark" secret (followed by Arthur nonchalantly revealing his own secret) was absolutely hilarious.
I wanted to ease up the teeth rotting fluff I seem to be writing these days so I tried to inject a little bit of humour. Glad you liked their exchange of secrets, haha. ♥

I think you did fine. I mean, it didn't read like someone who was necessarily a native to NJ, but that's not necessarily a bad thing ;) It was fine.
Also, your vision as Arthur as NY-dweller with NJ being his home town = ME IN REAL LIFE. :D I approve!!!!!
