This was a super lovely story, very atmospheric descriptions, and I loved all of the little domestic details of shoes and clothes hanging in closets, and all of the small interactions between Arthur and Eames. <3
(I must admit that I was distracted by questions of NYC geography in the 5th part, as well as thoughts about what an annoying airport JFK is to fly into. ;p)
Geography is not my strong suit. Also I'm not a NY native so I really have no idea what I'm talking about half the time D: I use Google. Is there anything I should correct? (and thanks for reading! )
afaik there's no actual street called Saks (but I'm not an expert on NYC geography, despite living there for several years, so I could be completely wrong!). My real issue was that I got distracted thinking, "where on 5th avenue are they eating lunch?" (and thinking about breaking out the Zagat guide and finding possibilities) and "Where exactly is their apartment?", which not at all the point of the story, I imagine, and which is really my problem (my obsession with geography) and not at all a problem with the story! :)
Also I found myself mentally admonishing Arthur for making Eames go all the way to JFK to pick him up, when Arthur is fully capable of taking a taxi by himself. And then I realized that I made my boyfriend take the subway to JFK to pick me up from a flight once, and accompany me back home on the subway, and then I realized that I am a terrible person, and that Eames was very sweet to go all the way to the airport for Arthur
( ... )
dflksjfklj my beta and I missed that! Thank you! It was supposed to Fifth Ave. but at the time I was thinking of SAKS the store! Aaa this is wildly embarrassing. I think I shall substitute on Saks for near Saks. Will that make semblance of sense at least? D:
MY TIMING IS WEIRD! But I just finished this and I think it's so lovely. IT MADE ME KIND OF SAD, but in a way that felt very true to everything I love about the Eames/Arthur pairing.
This in particular was just... perfect:
It's not going to get any better and it is not going to get any worse and Eames thinks maybe he can live with that.
