was this proper cutting, done by some sort of proffesional with a greater idea in mind, or some petty (but drastic) vandilism by some dick ass youth?

Vandilism. The top halves were not hauled off.

My mother discovered this while walking the dog this morning. She ran into one of the maintenance guys who was pretty upset.

FUCK!

Every time I hear about something like this, I am completely blown out of my mind! I feel destroyed, splattered all over the wall, all of my morals and beliefs mashed to a bloody pulp. What sort of childhood would allow a person to, for no reason but to hurt people, cut down all the trees in a school?

I am worried about the future of humanity. Even Hitler thought he had a good reason for what he was doing. Stalin did what he did because he desired ultimate power, and probably still had the remnants of some revolutionary ideals somewhere inside of him. This fucker did it just for fun.

I know, man. It takes so long to grow them back, too; even if we transplant. The maintenance guy estimated that the maple was more than 20 years old. That's older than me!!

How could you destroy something so old and beautiful?

But we can't plan't trees that old... They will have to regrow.

And you know how hard it is to keep transplanted trees alive, especially in such a busy area.

The garden against the west side of the gym was also vandalized.

Also, a large, mature rhododendron bush behind the lunchroom, out on that grassy knoll-type area was destroyed.
