I've had 3 kids since I last posted here. SEE YOU IN 8 MORE YEARS, BLOG.

So, as of the 1st of August I no longer work for Yahoo! - I quit.

Reason? I'm going to travel with my girlfriend (in 6 weeks - wife) around Australia for a couple of years, living out the back of a van taking photos, writing blogs and books before - in all likelihood - settling down and having kids and not being able to do such things so easily ( Read more... )

Haven't updated here in a while but then haven't much to say (most work stuff I can't talk about).

In the last 11 weeks I have:

a) sacked someone

b) turned 30

c) become a permenant resident of australia (but not a citizen yet)

d) employed someone

e) launched Sunrise

f) been on holiday for the first time in years (to malaysia and singapore)

final weirdness post... tried turning the power switch up to 'on' then back down to 'off' thinking that'd surely do it... but nope, made no difference even after multiple tries: radio still on, turntable still spinning.

Pulled the plug out of the wall - finally stopped. Imagine that'll be the staus quo from now on (which will be annoying)

Now there's possums or something outside the window bumping around trying to freak me out... bloody possums. I should go to bed. Radio's still playing, turntable's still turning, power is still off, weirdness continues.

Tried putting the needle on the record... sound came out of the needle only, not out of the speakers (radio still pumping from there), so nothing too interesting.

The only thing interesting from that experiment is that, having put the needle back on the cradle, the turntable is still spinning - I pretty much expected that action to reset the ( Read more... )

There's actually a record on the still-spinning turntable... I do believe it's Chemical Brother's "Come With Us" album. Might try and see what happens when I put the needle on, if I'll get both radio and vinyl at once... although Triple-J has moved from Safran/Father Bob to The Sound Lab, which aside from being excellent is electronic/experimental ( Read more... )

okay WEIRDNESS ALERT! I have a very old radio/turntable in the living room with switches you have to physically move up/down to use them... and at 10:41 exactly, just a few minutes ago, the radio spontaneously turned itself on (the switch is still in the 'off' position) and the turntable is spinning, which it shouldn't be doing anyway as the mode ( Read more... )
