Total nightmare

We just found out that the landlord wants to throw us out in March to do some damp-proofing on the flat. In theory this isn't too bad as I wanted to look to buy (wherever on Earth I can afford in this city) next Spring and he has given us lots of notice. However, I just spoke to flatmate V and she thinks she will try to find a place sooner in light

Oh no, that really sucks! :( Have you all signed individual contracts? If so then surely it's not your problem if V leaves?

I hope you can work something out, moving house is so stressful at the best of times :( *big hugs*

No, it's a joint contract, which I would avoid ever doing again. If there were a dispute over the way we have kept the place that was one person's fault we'd all be liable? Not ideal.

R thinks that the landlord will be reasonable and will be flexible with leaving times. I'm looking straight away...
