When you're dead, you'll be asleep. Many people believe that your spirit or soul will go to an afterlife, which is a pleasant place where all your desires are satiated. Most people on board simply report feeling a period of deep sedation.

[It's not really up to Batou. The rules are the rules, and his decision to keep the Major free of attackers can't be bent just because of something as worthless and transient as emotions.

[Actually his Masters wouldn't have held him culpable in this situation but all Thom knows is how other pets (generally feral captures, not umpteenth-generation pets) have been punished for assaulting their owners. It's not pretty...]

I was lookin' for food and then there was this funny guy an' he grabbed me and then I had dreams and then I woke up and th'Major was on me and my throat hurt. And her arm was hurt and I'd done it.

I'd never ever ever bite someone like th'Major. Pets don't hurt Masters.
