I'm pretty sure you have a solid argument to get it--I would be very surprised if after heckling them a bit they didn't give it to you since you have a good reason and it would be rather silly of them not to have a clause in there for people who place out of classes etc.

Personally, I find a lot of fault with their thought process over all, though. This could be a bias of mine, though, for being in a Humanity/with a science twist major.

That's really screwed up. I understand the reason for this bonus could possibly be them wanting more students to go into fields dealing with math and science, but I think that's unfair to other majors. To me it implies any majors outside of those areas are inferior, so we're not going to give students as much money to cover tuition. I could be wrong, that's just my opinion.

But for your sake, I do hope that you can get the extra tuition. Any more scholarships you can get is better than having to take out additional loans. Best of luck with whatever happens!

That really sucks! You and your mom and whoever else you can get should complain to the proper authorities until you get the money you deserve.
