Dwiggie Travel Curse lives on, alas. This is the third time I've taken this train in the past year, and while when I went to DC it arrived here on time and in DC half an hour early, both trips to NY were delayed by more than two hours. When the scheduled departure time is 3:30AM, that's kind of an issue.
At least this year I didn't have any advance

Ummm. I'd stayed with my sister until she moved to Seattle, and these last two trips I don't think where I've stayed will help. (I decided last year to blow what would be two-three weeks in Europe on a couple nights in a five star hotel just for fun. And loved it so much I did the same this year

Well, I'd assume they have double rooms, too, but since I'd be alone I just need a single...which I suppose was the real point, that they have rooms for just one person, which I haven't seen too often in the US!
