I think half the reason I love baking is the compliments I get from other people

Been a long time, I know. Lots going on though. J is almost done refinishing the kitchen floor and it looks fantastic. He and Z scraped off the horrid linoleum tiles and tar before Z went off to Zurich to stay w/ GnE. J has sanded a whole ton and revealed the very pretty wood underneath all that crap. There's so much wood in the kitchen now, the ( Read more... )

Oh, I am so not ambitious enough for kimchee. Seriously. Besides, no one would eat it but me, and even I can't eat it very often. Shame though, they are HUGE cucumbers.

If we were closer, I would steal from your garden. One morning, cucumbers would be gone.

I fill a huge jar with the stuff and it sits in the refrigerator for a day. Maybe two. When he holds back, he'll only eat half the jar at a time, regardless of the size of the jar.

Tzatziki? There's a Greek hotdog place around here that makes it. Yum.

Cucumber water? Although it takes hardly any cucumber at all...

Salad's probably the best way to gnaw through it. Maybe chopped with fresh mozzerella, chopped tomatoes and fresh basil, with a balsalmic vinagerette?

Mm. Cucumbers. I hope they go on sale here soon!

I also just realized you're making cucumber lime sorbet. Let me know how that tastes!

Phil tried a cucumber chile mexican icepop thing. It was probably not the wisest decision he's made in his life.

God, it feels like it's been so long since I've followed a recipe... that I almost forget that I even know how.

I just made some salsa fresca. And then due to stupid lack of appropriate counterspace dropped a good 2 or 3 cups worth on the ground. Also, I would've appreciated some of those jalapenos. The store was out when I went shopping due to that particular salmonella scare. So my salsa is a bit hotter - since I used Habanero. I want to drink the liquid left on the bottom of my dipping bowl. But I'm pretty sure that would be painful.

I'm still contemplating doing it anyways and having ice cream afterwards.

I do small things around the house and feel sort of accomplished -- then I feel bad when I read about the actual accomplishments you've made with your kitchen and garden. Ugh. *whine* I want actual accomplishments made on this place. I don't care if it was made by me... actually, I wish it didn't have to be me. Oh well.

Frankly, I think the whole salmonella scare is way out of control. I've never made salsa, I'm lazy and just buy it, which is kinda dumb since J and I go through a lot sometimes ( ... )
