In Spira, if you don't do a magic dance, the corpse will eventually sit back up.
Is this true only in Spira? If not, how does this work out for everywhere else, where they don't practice the Spiran religion? If it is only true for Spira, how does that work, exactly?
This is a thing native to Spira due to the phenominon of the Pyreflies, and the unique (and ill understood) way that they interact with the Farplane, fiends, and living creatures.
Other areas of the world do not have Pyreflies, and thus there is no fear of the dead rising again as Unsent. Other areas, however, do have their own problems with the undead in the form of rituals, necromancers, particularly loathsome monsters, and vile curses.
The further one gets from Spira, the fewer Pyreflies there are to animate corpses as Unsent and consequentially, a lesser need to actually Send them. When you get to the shores of mainland Ivalice, you stopping having a problem with corpses rising as Unsent or fiends. Of course, you have a whole host of /other/ problems there, but that is here nor there. There is no readily explicable reason for the Pyreflies limited range; the best that anyone has come up with is that they can't go too far from the Farplane.
