Sleep?

I have slept for two hours in the last two days. It's not that I'm too busy to sleep or too stressed about something (at least not consciously), I just lie in bed and I think "what the hell. I'm not tired. What am I doing here." Then I go eat some toast of something. But I really do feel pretty wide awake. It's bizarre since I'm normally someone ( Read more... )

Try reading a book?

I find that after I read a good book and learn something new (particularly on a physics problem or something that I've been working on) that my mind will want to shut down. So it can contemplate the new information, I suppose.

Yes, sleep deprivation can cause visual and auditory hallucinations. And you're quite right about it not being cool while driving; worse still are the attacks of vertigo. :P As long as you're getting 'some' sleep, you can go for a considerable period of time and be more or less okay (example: parents). You've got to go about two weeks with zero sleep before it kills you, so you have plenty of time yet. ;) Everyone goes through occasional phases where the body just decides to be awake a lot for a while. As long as you feel okay, don't worry about it too much, esp. as worrying will make it worse. :) If you feel like a gentle sleep aide, try valerian tea from your local grocery store, or maybe an antihistamine before bed.
