Terry Goodkind strikes AGAIN!

Yo, Terry Goodkind.

Isn't it enough you gave us the most Gary Stu and Mary Sue characters in fiction, Namble cock, Robert Jordan rip-offs, gang rape is democracy in action, the chicken-that-is-not-a-chicken, noble goats, rising 'things', melon-sized plot holes and travelling pants, you had to say this at Kirkus Reviews:

TG: The genre is irrelevant; ( Read more... )

I never thought I'd be defending him, but he can't be mistaken for Anne Rice. You see, Terry uses an editor.

I think he does have an editor, but still has the final say on things. I'll check.

I have been utterly unable to take anything Mr. Goodkind says seriously ever since I read about the evil chicken.

... I think I have heard about this evil chicken before, but I can't remember anything about it.

I remember that passage. I'd laughed my ass off. He meant that to be funny... didn't he?

I'm not going to lie, I do like the books a whole lot, but Terry Goodkind just keeps getting crazier and crazier.

I got all the way through Pillars of Creation, and then couldn't get myself beyond the first chapter of the following book. I just kept rolling my eyes at all the praise of how much better Richard was than everyone all around, and I couldn't take it anymore, and went back to reading something or other by George R R Martin. Martin has ruined me for mediocre fantasy authors, sadly.

Agree. GRRM ruined mediocre fantasy for me as well. ASoIaF rocks. :D

... ::headdesk::

So often the authors of books I like turns out to be, well, loony.

I have to say I sort of failed a bit at his books after the whole chicken thing, though.

Have you seen the Betty the noble goat yet? The Statue of Life? You missed a lot. ;)

Ummm, hm. The last one I read totally was the one where Richard, like, ends up in some other society and carves a statue to inspire people cause it's some communist dystopia. I don't remember a goat but it's been a while.

I think I'll just reread them all when it's over, like I plan to do with The Wheel of Time. I expect The Sword of Truth to be less painful that TWoT though, since I still remember the first books with much love, and I only get annoyed with TWoT... I suspect I'll just give up and read the end on Wikipedia for that.
