Terry Goodkind strikes AGAIN!

Yo, Terry Goodkind.

Isn't it enough you gave us the most Gary Stu and Mary Sue characters in fiction, Namble cock, Robert Jordan rip-offs, gang rape is democracy in action, the chicken-that-is-not-a-chicken, noble goats, rising 'things', melon-sized plot holes and travelling pants, you had to say this at Kirkus Reviews:

TG: The genre is irrelevant; ( Read more... )

I sold all of TG's books back to the store after Pillars of Creation, something I almost never, ever do. It was Faith of the Fallen where they really lost me, though (I gave Pillars a try to be nice). We understood your politics in the first chapter, Terry, no need to force feed us.

The Fandom Wank wiki has some information on that subject, as well as other crazy stuff about Goodkind. Here. Also, the icon I'm using was inspired by the evil chicken.

I knew there was a good reason I'd never read Goodkind. (I rejected him by my usual method of opening a book at random and reading a page. The writing itself was so bad that I put the book straight back and have never been tempted to pick up another.)

This whole thing explains why in a past interview, when asked what he would say to those who felt the quality of his work had diminished, he said such people hate all that is good.

I do agree that Terry has gone off the deep-end, but I do enjoy his books. I can not agree with him on the idea of escapism though. What the hell does he think we read for ? I read in hopes that I will be uplifted and moved of course, but is that not a form of escape pulling my weary bogged down blogging soul to a higher plane of existence... losing my fears of being buried in a life of hum-drum mediocrity and swallowed in a sea of suburbs and home owner's associations? We do not all have time to debate or weigh the importance and motivations for diving into books, terry(and we do not all have your wealth ) :P
