SPN FIC - Attitude

You'd think a trip to the supermarket would be pretty much problem-free, even in the midst of Worldwide Crazy.  But when you're talking about Dean Winchester, nothing is ever simple.  Particularly when fans are involved.

"You will likely get us thrown out of the store," Cas said.  "Without our groceries."CHARACTERS:  Dean, Cas, OFC ( Read more... )

I would totally LOVE to be awestruck by Castiel in the middle of a supermarket! Where do I sign up??!

(I believe I actually saw conversations like that on the comms many times!)

Without powers, he can't zap over to you - how soon can you get to Kansas? :)

Glad you enjoyed it!

That was, as usual, awesome. Indeed, even a trip to the store is not simple with Dean, but it's not his fault here!

The oblivious cell-phone yammering is one of my pet peeves. I prefer to hope SPN fanfic writers wouldn't have that sort of personality... at least, not the good ones. :-)

Well, she confesses to her friend that she takes stuff that isn't hers, so by definition she isn't one of the good ones. Obnoxiously helping herself to the public good (a reasonably quiet supermarket) is in character.

I have to admit to listening to yammerers for entertainment.

That's one of *my* serious peeves about the whole Internet thing - if it's there, it's up for grabs, no need to credit the author/artist. People like that NEED a good comeuppance from Cas.

I think most of the "fans" like this hang out at the Pit, sniping at each other like it's an Olympic sport. *sighs*

Glad you enjoyed the fic!

Grace in the supermarket auroramama July 11 2013, 18:57:14 UTC
Now that's what I call grace.

She's (1) being incredibly rude and obnoxious, and (2) making Dean uncomfortable. She has to be aware of (1) on some level. She doesn't know about (2), though.

It would be high-handed, Trickster lite, to disappear her phone or take away her voice (even temporarily). She can't fight back against the supernatural; it's not a fair fight. Even if it is a fantasy we've all had. And being exposed to incredibly rude people is something we all have to tolerate sometimes.

It's (2) that justifies intervention, but she's not at fault for (2). So Castiel chooses an intervention that's effective, but not a punishment. He's returning good for evil, as a good man is said to do. His appearance is a moment of magic that most of us would love to be given in our lives. And it was just scary enough to make her think twice.

Wow, the story was brilliant and I didn't think it could get any better, truly I didn't, but then this meta - wow. 'Round of applause for you both.

So you don't figure it justifies intervention (whether human or divine) if someone's being incredibly rude and obnoxious? Depending on the circumstances (I don't say anything to someone who's likely to deck me), I'll generally speak up and call them on it. People using cell phones at the movies get NO kind of a pass from me.

Great story about Castiel's adjustment to being human. He might not be able to strike anyone silent, but he's a pretty tall dude. He can certainly get someone to can it. :-D
