That was a really lovely (and astute) glimpse into the man John was and the man he became, and Dean's realisation that Sam had missed out on something important by never getting to know the former.

Very tender memory. Felt very possible. Nice use of the line from young Mary. I know the Show thinks they've closed up the John storyline. And I guess in some ways, with him going into the white light, they did. But I'd love a richer resolution emotionally with the boys. I'd love if he could come back for that.

I figure, if they can keep bringing Bobby back in ways that approach absolute nonsense (and get more and more annoying each time they do it), they can conjure up a reasonably legitimate way to have John do an encore. I'd even settle for them doing it in the series finale.

Then too, if the show figured they were finished with John, they wouldn't keep mentioning him. And giving us the younger version. I see the driving force of the show being a triad of Winchesters, and I feel like I need to see that buttoned up.
