- possible to pick up and enjoy in 2 months or less
- reasonably exciting - I don't fancy knitting or something
- reasonably inexpensive to take up, either lessons or self-study through the internetz or experimentation

(It seems like all I use this LJ for lately has been whining. Er, sorry. I've actually had a pretty good, though ridiculously low-key, Christmas and New Year. Gifts include an awesome watch from my dad and a handbag from my mom.)

See, I always regret listening to my parents and their stupid Beijing vs Shanghai feud. "Do it later! You have plenty of time! We'll talk about it when we come visit you!" *sigh*

I know; I fail at posting and responding to comments. Er, even more than usual, I mean. Sorry. It's been a busy couple of weeks, with the conference and then parents visiting and all...
And now it's the end of the year again and I'm packing up my room. It's not the first time, and it won't be the last.

quick update
Am back from the conference; my presentation went well. I practiced it over and over, spent the hour before quietly panicking, then stood up and talked for ten minutes. Bam. Went well, I think.
