Change happens every day. Have you read over your writing over the years? Perhaps there is some progression, and though you may feel an overall unhappiness, are there no things that bring a little light in your life? It's a stressful time, I know...
I asked of a few of my friends, those who seemed to lack the self-esteem and self-confidence. I asked them to write 5 things that they liked about themselves.. One friend responded the very next day. The other just got mad at me and tried his best but came up with nothing. And this Valentine's I sent him a card writing the 5 reasons I like him...
Anyway, as irrelevant as it may seem, give it a try? I haven't been reading your LJ long (just got here via ricebowl), so I am sorry to impose...
Little things that make me happy are fleeting. Surely the joy of eating a cheesecake doesn't long enough.
It's easy for me to find 5 things I like about myself. My stubbornness, my ability to cause others emotional pain (yes sadism!), my analytical ability, my double-jointness, and my ambition.
But as I look at those 5 things, they aren't always things that I like about myself. And that is similar to the question of what makes me happy. There is no real answer. There is no definite answer.
My entry is mostly about the direction my life is going...not the way I want it. But I am never sure what I want in the future, only what I want in the present. I want to feel no pain, but how can you feel no pain in order to have a happy future?
maybe that's why. you want to know the ultimate answer, and that can't be figured out till it comes... and perhaps i am at fault for living in the present these days.
You cannot be happy if you make yourself miserable. Not every moment in life is joyous, but not every moment should be filled with despair. Certainly you cannot know happiness until you have known sorrow, but you should not seek out sorrow. Few things in life make us truly happy; find them and relish them.
If you are at peace, there is little that can disturb you.

What made you sad at work the other day? :( Don't be sad...it'll be okay. I had a bad dream the other day that our house was under attack by some weird white gang and I had to save everyone. You were left outside and screaming coz someone shot you and I hurried outside to come save you despite all the firing bullets. boo hoo. I was scared too! Very scared. :( Anyhooo..feel better. :) It'll be okay!! I get sad too!
