The Times-Picayune suggested in its Saturday edition that anyone wishing to go back and see their homes should bring the following...
A. A box of Kleenex
B. A shoulder to cry on.
I had neither.
This is my account of the aftermath of Katrina and what I saw when I entered Nola and my dear neighborhood of Lakeview.

This was beautifully written. Can I link to it on my journal? I notice its public. I just want people to know the severity of it all. I mean we all see it on the news and hear about it on the internet but not like this.
My offer still stands, if you ever want to come to Canada to get away, just let me know when and where to pick you up :)
I cried when I read it - I really did. I still have tears and I was in complete awe. You're are a strong person and I know you will get through this.
*hugs*

I'm glad you liked the writing...it's hard to write and not about something so close to my heart.
Thanks for your kind words...they mean so much.
Hugs to you,
Jenn

I'm so sorry that you and the rest of your city has to endure this. No one deserves this. No one.
I actually cried looking at those photos. Seeing stuff on TV is nothing compared to actually seeing people look at their homes, seeing bookshelves with books still on them, ceiling fans, and whatnot.
My heart goes out to you guys down there. I can't imagine what it would be like to have my house like that.
Canada loves you. <3
