I heard that there are three unavoidable rape scenes in the game...or at least "non-consensual sex scenes". I haven't played the game, but I have seen the CGs. I'm wondering if this is true? Because R18 otome games relying on rape is a petpeeve of mine, actually. XD
What do you mean by unavoidable? There is one route you can go through that doesn't have any sex at all, after all... I haven't really played through the game, but there's a lot of dubious consent and there is rape. I wouldn't be surprised if there were unavoidable rape scenes to get to the True Ends. (Each gettable character has five ends, and there is a 'story' end as well)
Personally, I don't think this game is that great in general so far. (Also I had too many moments where I was negatively comparing it to other games).
Hmmm...I should probably explain what I heard better. Again, it's all second-hand so it could be a misconception. I think it involves the three most heavily advertised guys on the site (the cat/dogboys) and there are certain rape-y scenes you must encounter in order to get the "good" end.
What's the route that doesn't involve any sex? As you can imagine I couldn't tell from just the CGs.
Is it just me or are many R18 otome games not that great? IDK. I almost feel like the regular otome games tend to be better because they don't fall into some of the dumber r18 tropes and cliches. Sure, they have their own cliches but...they're not as dumb. I remember rolling my eyes throughout Under The Moon (especially the elevator sex where some poor schmuck walks in on them and they continue at it in either Leni's or Seizh's route) I definitely liked the fandisk for that game better.
Ah... I wouldn't be surprised if they were. BTW where are you hearing about these games? I'd like to find a place where I can read more reviews.
Haven't played Under the Moon, so I don't know.
Actually the thing I'm most annoyed about this game is the mother being a murderous witch coming out of nowhere. >_> I guess I'll play more later.
I think the regular games probably are better because they don't have the crutch of sex scenes, so I'm totally unsurprised. I'm just surprised that people are praising this game so highly. I haven't played that many otome games (because so many sound kinda boring...) so I can't really compare though? What have you played?
IMHO Tsubasa no Oka no Hime doesn't fall into these tropes but there are still are problems with the game, and actually Chou no Doku, Hana no Kusari isn't that rapey in the good routes, so I don't think you can accuse it of really relying on that.
Tiana's mother being integral to the plot, yet not being seen is a little odd. I guess the writers were trying for an air of mystery? Doesn't seem like it worked from what you describe here though.
So...does that hunky hunter have a route? Or that strange rabbit cook?
And do those creepy children/dwarf things turn out to be evil?

The hunter does. The rabbit doesn't.
Nah, they don't seem to be evil.
I don't feel like I enjoy this game enough to play all the way through tho.
