Golden Seamstress - Arrochar Rocks :)

This past weekend my apprentices, Cenedl, Mahault and Mahild together with Berend (Mahault's other half) took part in the Golden Seamstress Event in the Middle Kingdom.  It is a 20 hour competition where teams are to create a complete outfit.

I have to say it was the most fun I've had in a long time! We laughed, sang, clowned around and generally made nuisances of ourselves. I think we set the tone with the 'crush your head game'- it was all downhill from there.

I was humbled and proud at the same time to be on such a great team. From the beginning to the end, the feeling was one of family, companionship and love. We worked so well together, often on the same garment at the same time, with laughter and sillyness.

Winning was the icing on the cake, but I would have been happy not even being judged. Challenging ourselves to work like that was much more satisfying than anything else!

It looks terrific. I would love to see the documentation some time. The big armscyes aren't something I remember seeing before, but I don't know much about eastern Scandinavian. I love the hat!

Thanks - the patterns are all geometric like the Birka and Kragelund patterns. Unfortunately I cut teh caftan a bit big. The Undertunic and Tunic fit much closer.
