Blegging the question

In an unposted draft of a response to Jon’s probability question, I wrote this little gem: ‘A slightly less brute force method (“ruffian force”? “hooligan force”?) ....‘

So now I submit to you the question, which of these two do you prefer? Or what phrase do you think is better? I like “hooligan force,” but mostly because I like saying hooooligan ( Read more... )

Oh, the fun that can be had with a thesaurus...

"hoodlum force"
"barbarian force"
"brigand force"
"racketeer force"
"scofflaw force"

and my favorite, "troglodyte force".

But of your two, I think I like hooligan force better than ruffian force - though they're both good.

I like brigand. As in "I drink microbrews, brigand!"

Desperado force maybe?

Oooh, thanks to an online repository of Shakespearean insults I now propose: Fustilarian Force. Bonus points for alliteration!

If you're attempting to combine brute force with rational thinking, might I suggest "chessboxer force"?
