Resistance

“Hey.” Reid greeted when Hotch opened the door and gestured him to come in.

“Thanks for doing this. My pharmacy doesn’t deliver, and I didn’t want to get behind the wheel.” As if to emphasise his statement he covered his nose with a soggy handkerchief and sneezed furiously.
“It’s okay, Morgan’s taking a nap.”
“Morgan’s taking a nap? He must be really sick…..”
“He is, and it didn’t get any better after that helmet incident.”
“What incident?”
“He was wearing his motorcycle helmet and then he suddenly sneezed. The whole thing was full of snot and  mucus, he almost suffocated before I got it off of him.”
“He’s sick and you let him go driving that thing?”
“No, we were…..” Reid blushed furiously. “Forget it.” He handed Hotch a small pharmacy bag.

“I’ll try. You want tea? I just made some.” Hotch offered.
“Did you cover your face when you poured the water in?”
“Yes.”
“Did you disinfect the handles?”
“You want some tea? Yes or no.”
“Sure.” Reid followed Hotch to the kitchen. “How are you doing?”
“Sick.”
“No, I mean being sick alone. Chad’s on a job again, right?”
“Right. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’m actually beginning to understand Hailey. He’s constantly coming and going and sometimes he can’t be reached through the phone.”
“Does it bother you?”
“More than it should. I’m so used to being on a job all the time, that I had no idea what it would be like if I was the one who was waiting.”
“I guess you’ll get used to it.” Reid took the offered mug and started sipping. A sudden thought came to him, making him giggle uncontrollably.

“What’s so funny?”
“Nothing. Remember when Jack was staying the night with me and Morgan?”
“Yeah.”
“He wasn’t anywhere near as much trouble as Morgan is when he’s sick.” He kept giggling, his hair falling down on his face again.
“Do you do that on purpose?” Hotch leaned over to tug the strands back behind his ear.
“Do what?”
“That hair thing.”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“You do that all the time at the office when Morgan`s around. You do the hair thing and than you watch him under your lashes. I know you can’t do that calculatedly, so it has to be instinctual.”
“Are you saying I send flirtatious messages with my hair?”
“Yes.”

“Maybe you got a point. Morgan’s always messing it up and then sleeking it back.” Reid lifted his eyes from his mug. Hotch was looking at him carefully.
“What?”
“Nothing. But he’s right, it’s adorable.” Hotch paused and looked awkward. “Sorry. Some thoughts always come back, I can`t help it.”
“I know.” Reid emptied his mug.
“Does it bother you?”
“No. Because I know you would never act on it.”
“I…. Me and Chad, we have a….. an understanding. We’re keeping it light and casual.”
“But that doesn’t matter. Even if it weren`t casual, you still couldn’t cheat even if you tried. I know you that well.”

------------------------------------------------

“I’m back.” Reid dumped his keys to the bowl on the counted and opened the fridge.

“Where are you?” Morgan’s voice hollered from the stairs.
“In the kitchen.”

That was the last thing Reid said before things started to move very fast. Before he had time to realise what was going on, he was laying on the kitchen table with Morgan on top of him.
“Pretty Boy, you just signed up for the ride of your life.”
“Morgan-”
“I just measured it. No more fever, I’m ready for active duty and I’ll serve you so well your eyes will go crooked.”
“You actually said that without starting to wheeze.” Reid commented.
“I told you I’m better. We got a three day weekend to enjoy. I’m not gonna let you out of the bed for at least the first twenty-four hours.”
“Great, but-”
“No buts. Clooney’s locked to the basement, bed has new sheets and my gears are howling.”
“Morgan-”
“What?!”
“Are you planning something with the bananas?”
“What?”
“Are you planning something with the bananas?”
“No.”
“Then you really should let me get up. The fruit bowl is pressing against my back.”
“Sorry.”
“It’s fine, just let me get up.”
“Nope.” Morgan pulled himself off the table, pulled Reid with him and threw him over his shoulder to a fireman’s hold. “I’ll get you up, then I’ll go down and then we’ll see what happens.”
“Morgan.”
“Now what?”
“On second thought…. Turn around.”
“Why?”
“Just turn around.”

Morgan turned around with Reid on his shoulder. The genius reached to the bowl on the table and grabbed a banana.

“What are you gonna do with that?” Morgan leered. A crooked grin spread on his face.
“I`m going to eat it, I’m hungry. Now take me upstairs.”
