[There's a tattooed man (you can tell because the shirt is always opened) wandering around Luceti and while that's hardly strange, he keeps looking up to the sky and whistling something. That's a little more bizarre. Then again, it's Luceti. Throughout the day he can be found all over, but eventually he takes a careful seat on the edge of the ( Read more... )

Do you like birds? [The crow on Loki's shoulder might be juuust visible on-screen.] I think people take them for granted.

Aye, I do. [Tilts his journal a little better.]

Back home I'd be inclined to agree with you. Since they're generally used to deliver letters and packages, but most of them don't talk back home.

You don't like their being able to talk here?

Oh no, I quite prefer it this way. It's nice.

Me too! ... Usually. A bit of the mystery is lost, though. [As demonstrated by his crow, which flaps off chattering noisily. Food, food, food...]

Eh, I never was much of one for mystery anyway, so fair trade..

Mm, they still have a certain charm.

Have they told you anything interesting yet?

Depends on what you call interesting.

If you're not sure, then it probably isn't.

Most likely. Still one man's junk is another man's treasure as they say, eh?

True enough!

So are you a pirate, mister? Does that mean you have a parrot?

Yeah, I'm a pirate -- how'd you know?

No parrot though, I'm usually too busy looking after lots of idiots for that.

That's a shame. The pirate factor goes up twofold if you have a parrot.

As for how I knew, you were asking after pirate crews, right? It would be strange to ask after pirates rather than sailors unless you had ties with pirates yourself.

Really? I always thought it was having a mustache that did that. My old man and the pirate king were both famous for theirs, eh.

Ahh, smart move. Although I'd imagine marines would ask after pirate crews as well.

You sounded on better terms with pirates than I expect a marine would be. Besides, you... just look like more like one. [Unless marines from this guy's world are particularly liberal with their dress code.]

But anyone can grow facial hair or lose a limb! Having a parrot shows that you've been to exotic lands.

[No, no, Marco looks every bit like a pirate. He's even got the tattoo. Not even Marco thinks he looks innocent, he just likes to hear the reasoning. And his sense of humor takes some getting used to sometimes.] Ah, the haircut does me in again. I really should try to find a nice hat someday. [Right because it wouldn't be the stereotypical pirate sash, pants, and sandals or anything...]

Parrots aren't that exotic, eh? I guess having a southbird would do that, but that's incredibly old school. And they're way more hassle than they're worth.
