My mother and I returned Meet the Parents to the video store and they gave us a free rental. It was more fun for us to go back into a Michigan winter and give it back than contemplate leaving it in the house for another second. Since we returned it within about half an hour of having rented it the video store took pity on us.

I have fairly low standards for movies, but humiliation comedy really makes me squirm. I pretty much avoid the genre unless something comes with glowing reviews and someone else pays for the rental. (In the stupid comedy realm that I have loved: Dodgeball and Josie and the Pussycats.)

Walked out on in theater: In the Cut. Didn't ask for money back, just fled and try to forget the horror.
