So, I had my doctor's appointment for the hip specialist today. He prodded at me a lot, asked me questions, watched me walk. He's now decided that it's not a hip problem at all, but a hernia in that area. Tomorrow, I have to go to the general surgeon to get a second opinion

Yeah, Hernia's of random bits of your ograns need to be surgically repaired. They need to seal stuff back up so it can't pop out anymore.
