What do you want a car to do? As i what will you use it for and what do you hope to get out of it?

Once you get that nailed down, I can mention some cars...

I'm not sure about that yet. The engineer in me gets excited about cool engineering things. That's why I'm interested in the hybrid and why for the longest time I wanted an rx8. Two cars on opposite spectrums but they both have interesting engines.

Lately I've been more interested in practicality too. The prius (while I think its a bit ugly) appeals to me because I think that expensive gas prices are here to stay and I wouldn't mind a car that got good gas mileage.

The suburu is nice because it has power but at the same time it'll be useful for taking to the mountains for snowboarding or the desert for rock climbing or parties and its not too expensive. And its small. I want a relatively small car.

so small, practical, preferably not too expensive, powerful is nice but not important since I don't really push my car hard.

I like lots of small curves. I'm not a big fan of boxes. I still don't really like mini cooper. I love the shape of the viper.

the prius is ugly. They make other hybrids that are less ugly.

Do you ever need to haul stuff? More than two people?

I love the rotary engine too, but it gets bad milage and the RX-8 to me is ugly and drives poorly. I was amazed with the G-35 coupe frankly, but I don't think it is right for everyone I know to own one. What about the MX-5? Great milage there.

If you want curvy, the new Solstice is interesting. Lexus IS is pretty nice, and the new camry comes in a hybrid too.

You have to test drive the super- mini (gs version? xl version? no clue what the letters are and too lazy to google.) It's got _way_ too much thrust-to-weight for a car, and corners like it's on rails. It also has a surprising amount of room for a car that small. Very, very fun to drive.

I think you're talking about the Mini Cooper S. If you really want power go for the John Cooper Works package, which tacks on some additional hp and torque for a really fun ride.

Too bad Vv doesn't like the Mini.

... Yea, it does seem to fit some of the things that I want. But I can't get around the urge to squash it.

I own a WRX... Go for the G35 or a BMW. It's what I should have bought.

///M3, baby! Only problem with my car is that it doesn't get great gas mileage (22mpg) and it requires premium gas.

As an alternative to the WRX I'd look at the Mitsubishi Evo. Turbo 4 banger, all wheel drive, maybe a little too edgy on the style thing, but a fun car nonetheless.

Opinion on the G35 seems incredibly high. I also know people that have been very happy with the Nissan Z.

hehe. nooooo not the Z. Shane had the 350Z. I want something with more room. I think that any car whose trunk has a diagram about how to fit your golf clubs into the trunk is probably not the car for me. Though it is a fun car to drive.

Speaking of golf, the Golf GTI got good reviews for fun and affordability. Might be worth a look.

You should get a raise and buy one of these.

yeaaaa, it'd have to be a big raise. I'm not going to spend a year's salary on a car :-p

In that case, maybe the Lexus IS350.
