Jamie and I will be moving to San Diego this summer. I took a job with Applied Operations Research in Solana Beach, and am really excited about it!

My whole doctoral dissertation is going to end up being a pdf that is only about 4.8 Megabytes, and it took me almost five years. If I had sat down and started writing a one or a zero every second, eight hours a day, 300 days a year, I would be done by now!

Four years ago it seemed silly to spend $300 on a really nice espresso machine. But I got some money from my parents as a gift, and decided to go for it. Well, this morning it failed to wake up (I think the main switch is busted, which I might be able to repair). But I got to thinking about how much I loved the machine ( Read more... )
