I didn't love the kushiel's stuff, but mostly cause I had technical issues with it. Is the new one any good? I'll read it cause I'm a masochist that way.
His holines is coming to SF in April. Any interest?
I find it as entertaining as the others. I'm ~100 pages into it. This one is told from Imriel's point of view and since he's fearful of anything dark that might bring out something bad in him, there hasn't been any of that yet.
I wasn't a huge fan of the Kushiel things the first time through either. I felt like the tone and billing suggested that there was some sort of noticeable erotic content, that I never found. I started liking the books a bit more when I decided that they were pretty much entirely about politics, and a little bit about power expressed through sex, but not really about kink.

"Buddhism Without Beliefs" by Stephen Batchelor
These are books I have read and loved. They are practical guides to buddhism but may not be the best place to start if you are looking for a more spiritual approach.
My experience is that joining a sangha really helps in meditating regularly.
p.s: I case you are wondering, you do not know me and I happened upon your post while searching for folks interested in bouldering.
