Before I launch into Life pondering, first check out my more detailed
recap/analysis/picspam of Hoosier Daddy on
mary_marshall. I think I'm subconsciously falling madly in love with Marshall, because I take more caps of him than anyone else...
Okay, now onto Life, because I haven't talked about it in ages, and yesterday I was watching Fill it Up (for about the 26th time at least) while I was waiting for the air conditioner guy to arrive, and man, this episode still manages to blow me away. No matter how many times I watch it, the intensity of it all still leaves me on the edge of my seat. I always put my disc in and vow to watch another episode, but I always, ALWAYS go to Fill it Up. I just can't help myself. And if not Fill it Up, then I go to Fallen Woman. I think I what I love the most is the symbolism, and the music definitely plays a huge part in my love for both episodes, and Damian's brilliance in Fill it Up is another reason why I love it so much. But back to the symbolism. I noticed yesterday that the guy that hands Charlie the cell phone sounds just like him, and he even resembles him a tiny bit with the facial structure, and this leaves me wondering if it was supposed to be this dark version of himself tempting him with the information that he needed in order to kill Hollis. I'm probably grasping at straws here, but as we found out throughout the season, everything on this show is so very deliberate and often has multiple meanings. Check it out:
Am I just being crazy? I mean, they don't actually look like each other because that dude is nowhere near the level of hot that is Damian, but if Damian was a little heavier and a little more beat up? He might look something like that guy. Also, this guy appears out of nowhere, which adds to the whole surreal effect that the entire episode has, and it makes me wonder if he was hallucinating or something, especially since no one else sees this guy. The place was covered with cops, and Charlie is the only one who sees him. He stays in the dark, while Charlie is entirely in the light. It's just an interesting moment. As is the prison scene in the beginning, where everything in the little room is so brightly white and even the prison guy's uniform was so crisply starched and bright orange. Now, I know the episode wasn't a dream, but damn, it sure felt like it. Everything happened so conveniently, the dialog was a little random at times, and the lighting and symbolism was at an all time high, along with the use of the music. It was a beautiful, exciting episode with some of the most intense acting on television, and I think that's why I love it so much. Everything was heightened and separate from the rest of the episodes, but at the same time, it called back to every single thing that had happened in the show, including bringing back characters and lines from the pilot to bring the story full circle, in turn making everything connected. It was just pure awesomeness, and I think I'll always be watching it to see if I've missed something.
You know how everyone says that it's a gaping plothole that Charlie met Ted in prison since Ted wouldn't have been sent to maximum security for embezzlement? Is it possible that Ted may have been involved in hiring people to kill other people? Or at least been in association with such people? It sounds like he was pretty full of himself when he was rich, and he felt like he was immortal, so I'm wondering if he did more than just embezzle. But if he was an accomplice to murder, he would have served more time, wouldn't he? Hmm... Maybe this is just a plothole that will never be filled. But it would bring a new dimension to Ted if he was involved in more than just embezzlement and drug addiction (he was addicted to drugs, right? Or was that a fanfic? Yikes. See, the writing in this fandom is so good that I confuse what actually happened on the show with what happened in fanfic. But I'm pretty sure that the pilot implied that Ted was an addict. Cocaine perhaps? He needs more scenes with Dani).
Dude, I so cannot wait for this show to come back.
