Since I don't know any other religious converts, I'll ask you to satisfy my curiosity:

How do you know that you have converted to the right religion? Is it just because you have a fervent belief, you somehow "know," etc., or is it something else? You seemed to quite fervently believe in your old religion, from what I can remember of your posts on the Forum, so if you've come to believe that that one was wrong, how can you trust your instincts on this new one? I'd imagine the process is much more smooth and simple when a person goes from "nonbeliever/atheist" to "believer" than from "one kind of religion" to "another kind of religion," unless they make the case that they were always unhappy with their first religion.

Good question. To start with, since my "old religion" was also a form of Christianity there are many of my beliefs that did not change. Rather, I found that the Catholic Church professed a fuller understanding of what I already believed ( ... )

That was an interesting answer. Thanks for answering! I can see how you would view the situation that way---as a former Catholic, I agree that the Catholic Church, as the original, has the fuller understanding and interpretation. ;)

I thought a little bit more about your question regarding certainty about one's beliefs. It seems to me that your beliefs are held just as strongly as mine. So really the same question could be asked of you: How can you trust your instincts about your own views ( ... )
