She really loves us!
We have a little cat [editted from "can"] we got from the Humane Society a year and a half ago to catch mice. Her name is Shelob (rawr!) and she caught the mouse. We like her. She's affectionate enough without being annoying and not snooty like some cats can be. She's an inside cat ( Read more... ) -

This summer I've been making (a little) extra money installing sprinkler systems for a guy my uncle dropped my name to. I really enjoy it, because it's something new and physical that I don't have to think about - a great change from teaching this past year. Hard drive kaputz!
We lost the hard drive on our desktop a while ago as we were trying to back up the important stuff as the computer was acting strange. Unforutately, no backup. I hooked the drive up to our laptop via a USB hard drive enclosure kit, but no luck.
Twin Cities folk: any recommendations for a data recovery company? -
Summer parenting
The past week and and a half of summer schedule has given me much more time at home with the family, which is very nice. In particular, Peter and I have been spending more time together the past few days, both doing fun stuff and dealing with necessary stuff like naps and time-outs. A couple of interesting events:
