Nothing more or less than a life that makes you happy most of the time and that reduces boredom, drudgery, and other forms of unpleasantness to a minimum. No need to screen this reply.

Happy with yourself/others.

to that end: fulfilling goals as set by self (or society/intimates & bought into by self)... some people run into trouble when they end up with subconscious goals, or being dissatisfied by internalizing too many sets of standards to hold themselves to.

um... that's about it, really... the real questions is successful at what, and that's for the individual to answer. There are probably some people who are completely successful at doing what they want to and whose goals in life I'd abhor, but I don't see "success" as such to be prone to external value judgments. It's more task-based.

you can post this -
A successful person is one who is happy in their life and strives to maintain a level of fullfillment that makes them happy.

Life's a game. Win or lose, if you are not having fun, you are missing the point. No screens.

I agree with the previous posters concerning happiness being the only useful measure of success. However, I think it's fair to note that happiness is a quirky metric. If someone keeps a good enough supply of opium to keep themselves pleasantly tranquilized, and then dies of an overdose as they require larger and larger quantities to maintain the same effect, have they lived a happy life? Or does the nature of *what* makes us happy modify whether we consider the sensation of happiness valid?

Like previous posters, I feel no need to be screened.
