Landed in columbus on time. Went to get our car. They offered us a jeep liberty, but I refused to be seen in one. So they asked if we wanted a convertible. Hmm, its 40 degrees out, ok, we ll take it. Yesterday, Ben gave me a hand with more progress on the bike motor controller. It actually turns the motor now, though there is still one thing left to fix.

Our Scotch ale is still bubbling-- the yeast was slow to get started, so we're leaving it in the secondary fermenter for a week or two.

So fallbrook opened up yesterday morning, but before Anna and Jerry made it back in, the police changed their mind and shut it back down. Mid afternoon Anna and Jerry managed to sneak back in. Well the FD showed up late last night apparently. The news says it is crews from Mendocino and Sacramento and inmate crews. Someone counted 26 trucks driving by, and another spot had 10 trucks parked. It seems they have managed to keep the fire from spreading much to the West or South. Actually only part of Pala burned down.

The windows have calmed down and the fire is being held at Gird Road and Live Oak. As my sister's place is right at Live Oak its hard to say whats going on. Guess I'll find out tomorrow.

Got some pics from Anna of the fire. I'll post them tomorrow.

I find it darkly amusing that the traditional news channels are not covering these fires as well as the blogs and SignOn San Diego's web radio. On CNN I see the same video of Malibu and Lake Arrowhead burning that I've seen all day. One mention of Fallbrook, and maybe two or three of Encinitas and surrounding areas.

The Pala Resort where we went swimming burned down. It was quite large-- a whole casino, parking structure, pool, and hotel. Hard to imagine that burning down...

The fire map I found online shows the fire reached about two blocks from Via Cumbres at 9pm
