Tivo- I have the Dish Network rip-off version of the Tivo system, which works wonderfully well (minus the cute mascot). For people with schedules like ours, it's surely a godsend. The biggest drawback for me is that, each weekend, I have this backlog of programs recorded through the week. It's way too easy to end up being a complete couch potato for Saturday and Sunday as I catch up on shows. With the weather getting better, I have to make a concerted effort to get out and do things. :)
Adulthood- You didn't get the memo? It does sometimes seem as if each older generation is determined to squeeze all of the energy and dreams out of the younger generations coming up. Very few people manage to make that transition unscathed. All I can offer is that talent and ability win out in the end.

Some details I really enjoyed:
"Architects and screenwriters know equally well: structure is important. Without it, stories come crumbling down." -ya know why
"a single frame of televised goodness"
"Adult life is comprised of wires that are supposed to connect but don’t connect...the cable to the hip bone and the backbone to the DVR"
"I clock in, my personality clocks out,"

Though I was happier without the TiVo, without the money, but when I had the time...
