The Grand Adventures of Watanuki, logbook entry 055 [voice]

Jan 13, 2011 20:10

[filtered to the Convoy, shortly before their arrival in Licere]Good afternoon. I'm sorry for the late introduction-- my name is Kimihiro Watanuki, and I recently signed on as a cook on this ship. I've been acquainting myself with the kitchens for the past few days-- I'm sorry for having missed so many introductions ( Read more... )

You what!? You can't just hold our snacks hostage!

I'm not holding them hostage! Food is for mealtimes! If you eat everything between meals, the food I cook goes to waste when no one is hungry when it's actually time to eat it! It's just sensible!

You're just trying to instigate your brand of tyranny in here like you did back home!

It's not tyranny! How is it tyranny to expect a crew not to invade the kitchen between meals?!

Greetings, young man. It is nice to put a name with a voice.

I am Iroh, one of the Strategists on the ship.

...Surely you would not deny an old man a small snack every once in a while?

Perhaps even some tepid water for my teapot?

It's a pleasure to meet you, sir! I hope I didn't offend you-- it's just, it's difficult to plan meals when crewmembers take food whenever they want it...

Er, if you'd like, sir, I could set a few things aside for you, if you wouldn't mind telling me when you'll be down in the kitchen. It's just in the interest of conserving supplies and keeping inventory organized, you see.

And, er. Please don't hesitate to come down for hot water.

...I'm very sorry, but have we met before? Over the network, maybe? I don't mean to be rude, but I don't recognize your journal ID.

I understand perfectly. It is refreshing to meet another person who takes food as seriously as I do.

Please do not concern yourself over me... I am sure I shall manage not to waste away....

But I do enjoy my tea.

I believe I may have heard your voice once or twice since you have been on the ship. My office is not far from the kitchens.

Ah, I see. I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot of each other, then.

I hope you'll feel free to come down whenever you want to make your tea, sir! The tea stores are really excellent for a ship of this size-- if you don't mind my asking, what do you drink?

Kimi, you know people'll just sneak down when you're not in the kitchen. [giggle]

Ha! That's where you're wrong! My cabin is right next to the kitchens on this ship! So I'll always be in earshot!

You say that like it's going to stop people.

You know, you don't have to assume that people aren't going to follow my rules! What do you know about this ship? Maybe the people here will actually respect the boundaries I put on the kitchen! You don't know that they won't!

Well, we never really had anything in the rules about snacks...

Then I hope you don't mind if I take it upon myself to make them now. It's about conserving inventory, you see.

If I had to be honest, we don't really mind too much since we usually do have more than enough, what with people like Hex and the Captain himself...

But how am I supposed to keep people from walking in and out at all hours?

Welcome aboard, Kimihiro Watanuki. I am Optimus Prime, captain of this vessel.

...I don't recall any particular policy on "snacking." Don't humans refuel only when they need to?

It's a... human thing, Chief. Like a hobby!

Oh, I see. ...yes, I suppose I can understand that. When I tried human food, it wasn't like anything I'd ever experienced. We Cybertronians don't refuel for fun unless we're trying to overcharge.

There is such a thing as overeating for us... but its like, uh... sometimes we use too much energy at once and need to keep it up before we do get a chance to, uh, 'recharge'.
