and the ads on the side of your journal aren't bad either.

I did. The ads aren't terrible, and the extra pics are nice. I probably won't use any of the other features, though.

The biggest thing for me, though, is that the more people who sign up, the happier the advertisers are and the more money they'll give LJ. So even if I never use the features, I'm helping the site out by giving them more numbers to say "hey, look here advertisers, look at all these people who have signed up!"

I get more userpics so I like that!

Plus the ads arent that bad and theya re on the side of my LJ so they dont get in my way.

I have it for this journal, and 15 userpics is nice even though I only have 6 so far.
The ads aren't horrible but the thing that urks me is that they stretch my text over with them. I just deal with it, but it is kind of annoying. I don't know if it's fixable or not *shrugs*
It's fine, I guess. Doesn't bug me too horribly, lol. Plus I'm helping out LJ, so its good!

I've heard one of the problems with it though is that by allowing advertisers on your blog, you create more links and more connections to a point where search engines like google will pick up more on blog pages. If I understood correctly, that's why you're seeing more blogs come up under searches on google and google's getting to be almost useless in terms of finding anything substantial. So you may be helping out livejournal in a way, but at a higher expense.....
