Why does this shit still surpirse me?

I was riding my bike downtown yesterday. As I turned on college street, I got in the far right lane. Halfway between 7th and 6th streets, a car that was parallel parked began to pull out while I was RIGHT next to it, forcing me to swerve into oncoming traffic in the next lane. As I passed the car I gave the driver a look, like WTF?!?!?! He then ( Read more... )

God, what an idiot.

Not that it's that much of a compensation for his asshole-y-ness, but if there ever is an oil crisis, or an End Of The World sort of situation to be dealt with, that man is going to be one of the first to lose the survival game.

Is that sorta thing reportable? I mean, if you got a license plate number? Harassment and dangerous driving? I guess it'd only be valid if a cop actually saw, but damn, it'd be hilarious to get the driver's license revoked...

Btw, I don't know if I told you this already, but I was running on maxwell for cross country practice one time and your father passed me and yelled from his van, "Get a horse!" I thought it was funny.

In situations where there's street parking like that, I ALWAYS ride in the center of the lane for safety. I don't want to get doored, and in the car driver's defense, there's always enough room to open a car door and not hit oncoming traffic, but not for a bike. (AND, if you slammed into someone's opening door, it'd actually be YOUR fault, because it's like rear-ending someone. Whack, no?)

Of course, that doesn't really apply to an asshole like this, but whatever. You could get him for reckless driving since he obviously pulled out and did not look.

Getting in the center lane isn't a bad idea in most cases, but since I had to make a right turn within a block, AND the right lane is the dedicated bike lane, riding in the center would have been more of a hassle.

But yeah, that guy was a dickhole.

I bet the guy that said that is FAT. Was he driving as SUV or luxury vehickle? Was he on his way to McDonald's?

People need to get off their bluetooth headsets and start being waaaay more conscious of bikes and pedestrians
