bus

This is ridiculous. Bus fare here is $1.75 and they charge $.25 per transfer, or you can buy a monthly pass for $86. Assuming I work 20 days out of the month, it would be cheaper NOT to buy the pass.

In Kansas City it was $1.25 for a two-hour pass so you didn't have to pay extra for transfers, and the monthly pass was $40.

In Chicago it's $2.00 for bus fare (not sure about transfers) and $2.25 for the train. So...you don't have it as bad as you could :P

Out here, it's $2.30 for an all system ticket, good for two hours. Covers buses and trains, and all transfers. Monthly pass is $86.00. There are also 1 and 2 week passes for $22.50 and $43.50.

Mass transit has gotten kind of pricy, probably due to the insane fuel price spike last year. Even though fuel costs have gone down (for now), I suspect transit authorities all over the nation are going to maintain their prices for as long as they can to cover past deficits or to store up funds.

Pretty lousy all around.
