This left me very...sad. The latter parts of this series my heart just went out to Katie, and I almost couldn't appreciate any of the Naomi/Emily just thinking about how much they were hurting her, whether she knew it or not. From the beginning of this story I tried not to pick a side, but I fear I wound up on Team Katie aka Team Heartbreak :( The bits with Emily at the Love Ball and in Spain were lovely, I just...sigh, there could have been no truly happy endings to this in my opinion. It was an amazingly beautiful abuse of our emotions though ;)

Aw, yeah man. I'm on Team Katie too (believe it or not) so this was really hard to write in places. I just... the idea for it was that, it doesn't matter that Naomi saw Katie first, she'd always love Emily. It just so happened that in this universe Katie fell in love too.

I think you're right, though. There's no true happy ending - like it would have been so easy to have Katie cheat or something but I just thought it was more realistic, in a way, to just have it be that she wasn't the one. And that no matter how much Naomi tried she just couldn't see in Katie what Katie saw in her. And it is massively sad. And I'm sorry!! *clings*

I'm in the process of trying to make it up to myself and you lot though! I'll see what I can do...

Thanks for reading and commenting ♥

Flister, I just came across your fic for the first time this morning, and just spent all day reading this amazing story (and looking forward to reading the rest of the stories in your masterlist!). This is absolutely wonderful stuff. You've nailed the characters and their voices - your Naomi is, I think, particularly spot on (from the other Naomily fic I've read, I get the impression many writers find her hard to write). And your writing is beautiful! I think someone commented above on how well this story is structured - it really is. I've been on tenterhooks all day wanting to know how it ended (and thank God I picked the day you ended it, and therefore did not have to wait).

I hope this doesn't sound odd, but this is basically exactly the sort of fic I've been trying to find for the last couple weeks as I've started stumbling through the fandom. Oh, but then, this is seriously some of the best fic I've ever read. I'm so happy I found so much of it written by such a talented author! I'm going to add you - hope that's ok.

Oh, but I didn't comment on the tone of this - so beautifully tense and sad and happy and touching - you rarely see such a realistic (imho) depiction of love, particularly young love. You've got it all there, all the confusion and heartbreak and breathlessness of it. Again, I really love this!

Crikey, you read the whole thing in one day! *claps* Good work dude!

See, the problem with writing our Naomikins is that she's a bit of a wanker. She's got SO much emotion inside her but full all clue what to do with it. And, I think, because Katie is sort of similar they can't really help each other. But Emily gets that side of Naomi and can bring it out in her. So, for me, writing Naomi is like writing through water - you can sort of see what's going on and it's a bit blurry, and if you focus for too long you'll realise you're drowning. *ahem* /pretentious

Thanks so much for your lovely comments! I'm so glad you found it realistic and you liked the story as a whole. I'm sad it's over!

Of course, totally fine to add me. Thanks again ♥ (And double thanks for your Maud Lilly icon *swoon*)

I must admit that I not only read this story yesterday, but also "Revision Session" and "In Keeping Secrets" (my job involves a ton of reading, so I read fast, and they were so mesmerizing I couldn't stop!). I was so happy to find such great fic in this fandom - I essentially feel I've finally found the fic I wanted! I'll have to go back and leave coherent comments on the other stories. I ended up reading every other story in your masterlist thia afternoon - /that's/ how awesome they are! I really love your sensibilities to the characters, and your general writing style. Very high quality fic ( ... )

Aw, bless you - thank you dude!!

It has been a ROLLERCOASTER (as Lily would shout) and it feels weird to be coming down from it.

Ah, Cook will come back! That was like... he thought he'd go off and find his dad but his dad's a useless tosser so Cook will come back. Don't you worry! I love him and Naomi, and I reckon she'd need him around.

LOL, apologies for that JJ image - I just wanted to get you all inside Naomi's head as much as possible and she'd have thought that at some point before rinsing her brain out with bleach. ;)

I'm really glad you like the ending. Spare a thought for Kates, though! She needs the love too :)

Thanks so much for keeping up with this story babe. It's much appreciated. Big ♥ to you!

*cries*

This fic...just awesome. So beautiful.

It's nice to see the Naomi/Cook friendship plus the mysterious Effy. And I'm really glad it ended the way it did.

Great job <3 Thank you so much for writing this incredible piece of work.

Thank you so much for reading and commenting :)

I'm glad you liked the ending - painful in parts but they're on the right track now.

Cheers!

Thanks love! I'm glad you found the ending satisfying - sort of bittersweet really!

I like that you saw Katie that way, that she got the chance to grow. And I think she did - being with Naomi has shaped her. It's just a shame that what she's going to discover next is going to shape her too :(

(I think Effy might be there for Katie, you know? Shakey/scrapey <3)

Oh Emily <3 thanks so much for liking her! I'm so pleasantly surprised with how much you lot all loved her here. That's just... ♥

God, Naomi is totally the root of her own problems, the great moron. But we love her for it. Mostly. And exactly - she doesn't mean to do it, she just fucks it up and tries again. I think Emily will go a long way to helping her stop doing that. After a while, anyway :)

LOL. Gina... well, you know how I feel about her. She's just immense, and so funny. When Bets was betaing she was always like LOL Gina - I wish you were my mum which is so funny, really, because we only saw a tiny bit of Gina on the show but she lives on in fandom, and in my heart ( ... )
