Congrats on the new dog. I'm still relaxing after my year of full time teaching. What do I do but read five novels,--clearly a case of printed word withdrawal--and play racqueball.

I have heard of the band Sebadoh. Were they from the Amherst Noho megalopolis?

Which five novels did you read? Do you want to teach again next year?

i heard Dinosaur Jr. when I was in Amherst. I liked their overall sound, but didn't hear any really catchy songs. The books: Mason and Dixon--good but long, with brief sections that I didn't get, The Beach --the book was made into a movie with Dicaprio. I liked the book quite a bit, but I am a sucker for Islands, back to nature hippiness, and utopian societies. Hoot by Hiaasen, not as funny as his usual stuff, The taking by Dean Koontz (I won't apologize for slumming)--not as good as his best, and The many loves of Dobie Gillis, picked out bc the first story was one I'd read in seveth grade, actually pretty OK.
I just signed the contract to teach next year.
