All good thoughts to have, and this was a wonderful expression about art without being pretentious. I knew there was a reason I like Phil ( ... )

Yeah. It's a tough life having to pay bills, but it's one of the things we all do have in common. I guess I feel like maybe people in the U.S. are slightly looked down upon for their status as an artist (if they're not wealthy, because that seems to be the major form of status here). That pisses me off a bit, but then I just wonder if there really is a place where artists are more respected, and I know that at least in a city like Austin, art is very important to the culture, and that makes me proud to live here.

Don't feel the need to rush to a show, it's no big deal. I need to come see P-graph kick out the narrative sillinesss I'm reading about all over the chronicle and the forums and the P-graph website. haha. Chances are, both of us are too busy either a) making art or b) paying bills.

read "re-enchantment of art" by suzi gablik if you get a chance. I'm a sucker for her commercialism-kills theories.
