I think I mentioned this before. I don't think anyone on my f-list is into LoM, so this is probably of little interest to any of you. But, while I'm here, I do really recommend the show to all of you. It's only two series long, eight episodes per series, and it's pretty damn fantastic

Thanks! I imagined that Sam would want to check up on himself every now and then for sentimental purposes, and I'd like to think that Gene would tag along, once he found out his DI wasn't as mad as he thought.

This is a lovely idea - you manage to capture an affectionate and bickering relationship between Old Sam and Gene. Also it is nice to see a happy moment in Sam's life in the 2000's.

Ah, bless! This is so lovely; I couldn’t hold back a few little tears of joy and relief for Old!Sam and Gene, still together, still so sweet together (in that totally anti-sweet way they have!). And it so fits how I see them, that Old!Sam would want to revisit “the best day of my life” and that Gene would insist on going with him to make sure he was all right, against Sam’s better judgement.

his gut was telling him that Mr Skelton wasn’t exactly telling the truth... Yay! 2006!Sam does gut instinct!

I really like the way you’ve got 2006!Sam and Old!Sam so different, and yet both so true to the way they were portrayed in the show. All of their reactions are just so perfect, and the way 2006!Sam reacts to this mysterious couple is brilliant.

I would love to see John and Phil actually playing this scene.

And your last paragraph is just quietly awesome. I love the use of the word “bickering”. They so would, even at such a time.

Oh, thank you so much! I'm so glad you liked it! I have to admit, I always want the the good ending, so I couldn't resist writing Old!Sam and Gene still together after all that time.

I'm so happy it all seemed realistic to you. I was pretty worried it wouldn't work out that way.

I'd love to see Phil And John do this, too. When I wrote it, I was still picturing them as they were in 1973, and pretty much ignored aging. I wonder what that'd look like, if they were to get all old-ized for it.

That was terrific. You have captured Sam, both of them, and Gene perfectly. The bickering between Sam/Gene was spot on and made me smile.
