Yeah, I boggled at that, too, though I've also heard that Elton John habitually donates his fee for such things (which is anywhere from a million to two million) to his AIDS charity. So ... I dunno if Elton saw it as "taking the devil's money to do the lord's work" or what.

Yeah, there's a couple ways to look at it. One of my options is that Rush doesn't believe most of the bile he spouts, because if he really hated gay people SO MUCH why the fuck would he ask one of the most flaming guys out there to be at his wedding, which just adds to his "I am a huge fucking hypocrit" tag.

Or alternatively and more likely, his view is, "Gays are fine as long as they know their place and don't expect to have rights like us normal cheating God-fearing heterosexuals."

Yeah, I've considered the possibility that Rush thinks gays are fine as long as they stay entertainers, hairdressers, fashion designers, etc. Kinda like how women entering the work force was okay as long as they weren't directly competing with the menfolk.
