I just did an inventory of what I want to bring to Portland, and I'm running low on all the issues I have in stock. Even though I'm one of those people with a lot of crafts, I'm really happy that they are requiring tablers to have at least 51% of their stock be zines ( Read more... )

I can't wait to see the new zines!

A road trip zine is the one I'm fiddling with now. And when I say "fiddling," I mean "feeling guilty that I'm now really working on it."

I was hoping I would too, but I can't promise anything. I was going to make a road trip zine about living in a van and driving down the Baja peninsula in 2002. I didn't end up publishing the material until my wedding zine in 2006. So I can't say for sure that I'll actually complete this in any kind of timely fashion.

4 copies of ATIM 10 (found these in the back of the closet)
9 copies of ATIM 12 (but I can make 25 more)
8 copies of ATIM 14 (no more)
18 copies of ATIM 13 (probably enough for PDX, but this is the end of it)

I don't think I'm going to reprint any of those. So I really want to have something new to bring. I just wish that I was in one of those you-can't-stop-me modes. Instead, it's starting to feel like homework, and that's not good.

as my bike was stolen yesterday, i was only able to make 50 first copies and they all sold at the zine fest. Going to make more this week and post them :)
how many do you make?

It varies, but if it's something with a lot of assembly details I'll make 50-80. If it's something that's fairly simple photocopying I may make 100. I'm on my third print run of ATIM 14 now, so there are probably about 200 or so copies of that one.

I'm gald you like the 51% thing. We are getting some crap for it but I think that maintaining the integrity of a zine event is more important, especially with how established the event is.

I think it's too easy for it to slide into being a craft fair. It's also making me pick my inventory very carefully since I won't be bringing all my crafts.
